When mStreet Fiber arrives in a neighborhood, it means one of the largest private investments in the community history has reached your neighborhood. Construction is the first step in making connectivity real — and mStreet Fiber is committed to making the process smooth, transparent, and respectful of the community.
Before Crews Arrive
Door hangers are distributed to residents and businesses before construction begins in each area. This includes guidance on what community members may have to do to ensure the public right of way is cleared for construction. There’s also a phone number for residents to call with questions or issues throughout construction..
Survey and Utility Marking
Before any digging starts, crews survey the area and mark all underground utilities to ensure safe, accurate installation. Colored flags and paint markings will appear along the street and in the public right of way. This marks where underground utilities have been identified so construction can be implemented around them. It's also a signal that crews will be on the street within the next day or two.
Installation
Fiber runs along designated routes using existing infrastructure where possible, minimizing disruption to streets, sidewalks, yards, and daily life. Crews drill underground to lay the conduit and install the equipment that connects fiber to homes and businesses in the area. This typically takes a few days.
Restoration
As work wraps up in each area, crews restore any affected landscaping and surfaces. Throughout construction, the construction team is available for questions and concerns. Residents and businesses can reach out directly — and can expect a response that's prompt, helpful, and human.
