Connecting Central Alabama to Opportunity
mStreet Fiber Alabama is building a 100% fiber network bringing 21st-century connectivity to Selma, Demopolis and communities across the Black Belt region.
A Network Built for Alabama
For decades, Central Alabama's Black Belt has been overlooked by fiber providers, leaving Selma, Demopolis, and surrounding communities without the infrastructure that powers education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.
mStreet Fiber Alabama’s 100% fiber network delivers symmetrical speeds, consistent performance, and connectivity that adapts to new technologies, applications and demands without the need for new construction. Backed by private investment and federal grant support, the network is designed to reach residents and businesses at no cost to local governments or taxpayers.
Connecting a Historic Institution to the Future
For more than 150 years, Selma University has shaped leaders and stood as a source of community pride — an HBCU whose story mirrors the Black Belt's own: resilient, rooted, determined to move forward. But like many institutions here, it long operated without the infrastructure its students needed.
mStreet Fiber Alabama’s partnership with Selma University is one of the most substantial investments in the school's modern history: fiber running to every corner of campus, and one of the project's two regional data centers is anchored there, making the university a hub of technological leadership. Through hands-on training and internships, students are building fiber network credentials before they even cross the graduation stage — the network connecting Selma University to the world is training the next generation to lead their communities.
What to Expect During Construction
When mStreet Fiber arrives in a neighborhood, it means one of the largest private investments in the community history has reached your neighborhood. Construction is the first step in making connectivity real — and mStreet Fiber is committed to making the process smooth, transparent, and respectful of the community.
